Media events are typically short, planned conferences which center upon a particular news announcement, speech, or demonstration.

Media events are designed to engage reporters and journalists, giving them an opportunity to ask questions and to take photos/video of newsmakers in an open environment. These sometimes take the form of a “Media Day,” such as the weekly showcase featuring player and coaches interviews prior to the Super Bowl every year.

Media events are closely related to public relations in that they give reporters a direct line of access to your business and its most newsworthy employees/stakeholders. This allows you to present information and to craft the narrative you wish to project through the news, giving you the opportunity to influence the public perception of your organization.
